Rename the tools in the left-hand menubar (project sites only)

(In this feature, which allows you to rename and make other changes to the tools in the left-hand menubar, "tools" are called "pages." On this online help page, we call them "tools".)

To rename a tool:

1. While you are in the site, click Site Info in the left-hand menubar.

2. Click the Page Order button along the top of the CTools window.

3. To change the name of a tool, click the pencil and paper icon next to the tool.

4. Click the green check mark button to save the new name. To cancel, click the red "X" (next to the green check mark).

There are several other things you can do on the "Page Order" page:

- Remove a tool - Click the red X to the right of the tool.

- Hide a tool from users - Click the tiny lightbulb so it turns off.

- Disable a tool for users who don't have maintain-site permissions - Click the lock so it closes.

- Rearrange the tools in the left-hand menubar - Click a site and drag it up or down.

Be sure to click Save when you have finished.

Link M+Google Resources with CTools Sites

Instructors can create links from their CTools sites to resources in M+Google, such as documents and calendars, that have been shared with their MCommunity course groups.

Rearrange and hide site tabs

You can choose how many site tabs appear along the top of the main window, which tabs are visible and in "drawer," (a panel that appears in the blue banner along the top of the CTools screen when you click More Sites), and which tabs are hidden from view. Look here for more information: Tab Management.

B... Click Notifications along the top of the window.

C... Under Email Archive, click to choose one of the options:

Doctoral Students -- Stay organized and keep track of your progress

Grad Tools is a CTools-based application that provides several features that aid PhD candidates and their committees in planning and documenting the dissertation process. You can use Grad Tools and its Dissertation Checklist to keep track of your progress, provide reminders and more.

The Dissertation Checklist begins with required and recommended steps from Rackham Graduate School. It may also include steps added by your department, you, or your committee members. To learn more about Grad Tools, go to:

http://gradtools.umich.edu/

Upload multiple files at once

It is possible to set up a connection that will enable you to download and upload multiple files at once using an easy drag and drop interface. Look here for information about uploading and downloading multiple files.

Try using "Stealth" tools

Site owners can try out "Stealth" tools, which are tools that are available but have not yet been publicized to the University community. Stealth tools are still undergoing evaluation and may include some degree of reliability risk. If you would like information about current stealth tools, contact CTools support, ctools@umich.edu.
