For Faculty: Adding an Evaluate This Class tool to your course site.

The Evaluate This Class tool allows you to provide a personalized message to students and provides a direct link to the Evaluations Dashboard, where students view and complete their course evaluations each term.

Note: Adding the Evaluate this Class tool does not create a teaching evaluation for your course. Teaching evaluations are ordered by staff in your department and entered into M-Pathways. You can view teaching evaluations for each of your classes in the Faculty Center on Wolverine Access.


Adding an Evaluate this Class link to your site

1... While you are in your course site, click the Site Info link in the left-hand menubar.

You can also add this link when you first create a site and are choosing the tools to include.

2... Click Edit Tools along the top.

3... In the list of tools, check the box next to "Evaluate this Class".

4... Click Continue.

5... On the next screen, click Finish.

An "Evaluate this class" link should appear in the left-hand menubar. You may need to refresh the browser page to see it.


Choosing teaching evaluation options

When you click the new link, you will see the message students will see when they click Evaluate this class in the menubar. You have the option to change the text as follows:

1... Click Options along the top of the window.

2... You can change the title, the height of the block of text that will appear, and the text in the paragraph.

3... Click Update Options.

When students click the Teaching Evaluations link in their My Workspace or click the Evaluate this Class link in your site, they will see a page with the Evaluations Dashboard, which has links to evaluations to fill out.



For Students: Filling out a teaching evaluation

To access a teaching evaluation, you will have to provide your UM uniqname and password. Identification is required to ensure that only authorized students submit evaluations and that each authorized student submits only one evaluation.

Note, however, that no one will have access to any identifying data you submit. Your teacher will see a report summarizing the responses of your entire class, but the instructor will not be able to associate specific comments and ratings with specific students.


Filling out a teaching evaluation

1... Open My Workspace by clicking its link in the left-hand menubar.

2... In My Workspace, click the Teaching Evaluations link in the left-hand menubar.

You will see a page with the link, Evaluations Dashboard, along with a message from your instructor.

3... Click Evaluations Dashboard.

On the Evaluations Dashboard page you will see a box, "Current Evaluations to take."  This lists currently-active evaluations, along with an indication of whether you have taken ("completed") them or not ("pending"). Also listed are the start and end dates when you can take each evaluation.

4... Click a course link in the Current evaluations to take box to go to the evaluation for that course or instructor.

5... In the evaluation, click the "radio button" next to each response you would like to mark.

Note: Responses can be changed up to the closing of the evaluation period by following the same response procedure.

6... When you have finished, click Submit Evaluation
